Nirma University of Science and Technology popularly known as NU (or NU-IT, NIT or NIM) is an autonomous university located in Ahmedabad, India. It functions under the aegis of Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF).

Nirma is the oldest private university in the state of Gujarat. It originally functioned as several institutes under the aegis of NERF, which was established in 1994, and affiliated to Gujarat University. The Institute of Technology was established in 1995, followed by the Institute of Management in 1996, the Institute of Diploma Studies in 1997 and the Institute of Pharmacy in 2003. In 2003 the Government of Gujarat established the university as an autonomous university, including all the institutes. The Institute of Science was established 2004 and finally, the Institute of Law in 2007.
The Nirma Campus is situated on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway, at the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
The Nirma University offers three categories of program: Diploma, Post Graduate and Undergraduate. It also offers various Ph.D programs and also offers B.A. LLB 5-year program in Institute of Law.

The Institute of Technology was ranked 30 in the Outlook India Best Engineering colleges 2011[3] and 26 in the Dataquest Top Engineering Colleges in India of 2010.[4] In rankings limited to private institutes it was ranked 6 in the Electronics For You Top 50 Private Engineering Colleges of 2011[7] and 27 in the Mint Top 50 Private Engineering Colleges of 2009.[6] In the limited CSR-GHRDC Engineering Colleges Survey 2011 it was ranked 19.[5]
The Institute of Management was ranked 19 in the CSR-GHRDC's B-School Survey of 2011.[10]
